1. Use a disposable dressing towel or blue sheet to ensure that the background is well covered.
✓ Provides better depth perception
✓ Reduces background noise that can confuse the system
If it is a circumferential wound, place the cloth near the edges to give the C4W AI more ‘skin’ information.
2. Place sheet in a ‘tent’ method to cover the background
3. Place sheet in between the toes to cover the background
4. If Wounds are between the toes - Place sheet in between the toes to cover the background. Get a colleague to wear gloves and spread open the two toes for a good visual
5. If Middle of Wound is closed
If your organisation’s SOP is to consider this as 2 separate wounds:
- Use the manual cropping feature to take a picture of each wound separately
If your organisation’s SOP is to consider this as 1 wound
- Use the wound AI to take the wound image
6. Consistency of angle of the Camera
a) Ensure that the angle of the camera to the wound is perpendicular
b) Check the Orange overlay
7. Sometimes shadows are recognised as wounds
a) Place sheet in between the toes to cover the background
b) Use Manual cropping to focus on the wound area (as there is some discolouration)
8. How to handle circumferential wounds
Length and Width normally do not post any issue, but can be tricky to identify depth for circumferential wounds
Tips:
✓ Capture at an angle that allows a skin border around the wound
✓ System uses the skin as reference for depth reading
9. Handling of Wound Maceration
Commonly, Maceration is taken as part of the wound If your organisation’s SOP is that it should NOT be taken as part of the wound, then use the Manual Cropping feature to focus on the wound bed.
